Jaw crushers are suitable for primary crushing in the mining, metallurgy, and building materials industries. They can process materials with a compressive strength of ≤320 MPa (such as river pebbles, iron ore, and quartz). What are the possible causes of abnormal bearing temperatures during use?
1. Severe jaw crusher bearing wear or cage damage
Once a jaw crusher's bearings are worn, the inner and outer rings, rolling elements, and cages of the bearings change dimensionally over time. This increases the bearing clearance and reduces operating accuracy, leading to increased bearing temperature, vibration, and noise. In severe cases, this can lead to overheating, increased vibration, bearing burnout, and even shaft bending.
2. Poor jaw crusher bearing quality and insufficient initial clearance
If the bearing clearance does not meet the specified value, the clearance will be too small after installation, causing the bearing to heat up during operation and gradually increase in temperature.
3. Incorrect axial positioning of the jaw crusher's bearings.
If the axial positioning of the bearings is faulty, such as when the labyrinth ring or bearing gland is not properly installed, the eccentric shaft will move to one side during operation, reducing the bearing clearance and causing bearing heating.
4. Large machining errors in the movable jaw bearing hole of the jaw crusher.
Excessive machining errors in the bearing hole result in coaxiality exceeding the allowable value, leading to large coaxiality errors in the outer rings of the two movable jaw bearings after installation. This reduces the clearance and causes bearing heating.
5. Problems with the main shaft machining of the jaw crusher.
Excessive coaxiality errors in the journals of the bearings on both sides of the main shaft exceed the design allowable value. Consequently, the inner ring coaxiality errors of the bearings at both ends are excessive after installation, reducing the clearance and causing bearing heating.
6. Axial movement of the jaw crusher's retaining sleeve.
In this case, remove the bearing cap from the frame, tighten the retaining sleeve, remove the flywheel or sheave, and replace the retaining sleeve with a new one.
